A hypnotizing textile motif that dates back to the 1500's Pre-spanish colonial Philippines. The mathematical pattern is native to Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur in the Northern Philippines. Located on the coast, the traditional motif is meant to protect ships and also to confuse and ward off evil spirits. The motif is called "kusikus" which translates to "whirlwind". In line with tradition, this rug is made from local Filipino cotton and by local aristan communities.
